I hope you enjoy the new look of my page. For those that have been here before, welcome back and for my first timers, hello! Now let me tell you who I am and give you a little history about me.
My name is Elisha Zuniga. I’m a model and actress based in Texas. I’ve been happily married for 15 years and I am mother of two beautiful children. I have a simple philosophy about life: I believe you should live everyday to the fullest and die empty. What that means for me is that you should strive to give it all you have while you’re here because you can’t take it with you.
In 1998 at the age of 19, I opened a beauty salon. Over the last 15 years I’ve met many wonderful people in my salon and have had the privilege of sharing in their life’s journey. We all feel like family. I’ve provided the hair and makeup for many of my client’s weddings, formal affairs, office parties and other special occasions. I’ve believed God for babies for many of them and have seen some of these babies graduate from high school, go off to college, or start a career. I’ve also helped them to look their best while in the hospital and other times of crisis in their lives, including death. I made sure that their loved ones would be able to remember how they looked before the casket closed. It is important to me that my clients always look their best, even at the end of life.
As you can see, my salon is an oasis for people. The laughter and love experienced is unbelievable. If those walls could only talk, they would tell stories that would captivate you. I love helping people. That is my passion.
In 2003, something interesting happened in me and to me. I discovered dance and began taking ballroom lessons. It was as if life started for me and I was redefining myself. I realized my purpose in life and dance was going to be a part of it. I took private lessons for over a year with an amazing instructor, Al Vasquez. He pushed me, believed in me and brought out things in me I didn’t know I had. But at the peak of that experience, Mr. Vasquez died unexpectedly. I was devastated about his death and I felt a part of me died when he died. His death caused me to hang up my ballroom shoes. I literally closed this part of my life and began to search for the next chapter. Mr. Vasquez would always ask me, “Who are you? You look like someone I should see on TV.” I can still hear his voice at the end of his voicemail to “keep dancing”. In my heart, I knew I would dance again one day. That day came in 2009.
In 2009 I became a Zumba instructor. Zumba is a fitness program that fuses Latin rhythms with easy-to-follow fitness steps for an awesome full body workout. I went from being a student to a teacher. I feel good about helping people get healthy, lose weight, and stay fit and happy. I conduct several classes a week . I have great students and we have now become a family, too.
As for modeling and acting, let me tell you how I started. When my son was almost two years old I took him to an audition for Pampers. He didn’t get the job, but a few years later I received a phone call from one of the directors from that audition. He asked if I was interested in working on an upcoming project. I agreed and that led to me getting booked for a job, then another and another. Today, my picture is on the #4 box of Pampers Swaddlers, and in the sunglasses department worldwide in Wal-mart stores.
I love the camera, and I think it likes me too. I enjoy the experience of meeting new people, being on set and the challenge of the task. I’m dependable, motivated, have a great wardrobe, always on-time, take direction well and ready to work. My schedule is flexible, which makes me available for travel on short notice. I believe this is my year to do something great.
In July 2013 I added another title to my name, Author. I wrote and self published my first book, 72 Days of Positive Energy. It’s a hardcover, easy-to-read, gift-style book. It contains 72 actions to take daily to remain positive. In an effort to inject my atmosphere and those around me with positive energy, this book was born. My hashtag #72staypositive is currently going viral. T-shirts and other products are in production. I’m excited to see all types of people wearing my T’s and giving an honest effort to be more positive. The way I see things, you get what you give, so give off all things positive, and that’s what you have coming in return.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little bit. I’m excited about meeting and working with you soon!
